00:00Riff TV presents Meltdown's Meltdown.
00:08Man, what a great summer of concerts it's been here in 2019.
00:11I mean, Sammy Hagar, Three Doors Down, Slash, Just This Week, Slipknot, Ellis & Chains & Korn,
00:17motorcycle rides, it's been awesome.
00:20What do you think?
00:22What do I think? I'm still wondering why you're in my lobby.
00:28Yeah, good point.
00:30Let's go outside.
00:33Ah, this is more like it.
00:34Hey, I caught up with Jerry Cantrell before he took to the stage at DTE this past week,
00:38and he talked about a big show he played with Guns N' Roses here at Ford Field,
00:42although that's not what was on his mind when he was on stage at Ford Field.
00:46Yeah, that was one of the best and worst experiences of my life.
00:50Not that show, but the Seahawks-Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl that Duff and I actually went to,
00:59and I was conflicted because I was a fan of both, and Duff was really pissed at me
01:04because he couldn't figure out why I cared at all about the Steelers.
01:08So it was like the best and the worst thing.
01:10My two favorite teams playing each other in the Super Bowl until it started,
01:13and I realized somebody's going to lose.
01:15I mean, how legendary is Alice in Chains?
01:19They're eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
01:21Will they get in one day?
01:22We'll wait and see.
01:23I asked him his thoughts.
01:25Well, you know, I mean, it would be cool to be included in that,
01:29and who knows, maybe one day that will happen.
01:32It's not necessarily anything that you need.
01:36You know, we've got everything that we need,
01:39and we've been really lucky to achieve a lot of our goals.
01:46And so that never really was one of them, and it's really not up to us.
01:51You know what I mean?
01:52And there's so many other deserving bands that are not in there as well
01:55that are from a generation or two or three back.
01:58You know what I mean?
01:59So it's a limited amount of people that get in every year.
02:03Also this week on my Talkin' Rockwood Meltdown podcast,
02:05I talked with Robert Leo from Stone Temple Pilots,
02:08as well as Scott Holliday from Rival Sons.
02:10And unprompted, Scott just gushed about his love for Detroit.
02:14I love Detroit.
02:16Our band has a special, like, relationship with that place.
02:20And Detroit just happened to be one of the first cities that really, like,
02:23lit up for us and showed us a lot of love.
02:26And we just came through on the last tour and played the Fillmore,
02:30sold it out, which was big for us and fun.
02:32That's great, man.
02:33It's such a working town, blue collar.
02:38And I knew as soon as the Rival Sons came through there,
02:41I told the guys as we were driving it,
02:43this is going to be a town for us because this is a town of rock and roll people.
02:46It's dirty.
02:47It's raw.
02:48So there's other places that aren't going to hit as hard as quick.
02:50This place is going to work, and it did.
02:53So I have a really special place for Detroit.
