Doggy Dog Thursdays: Dillon The Cat

00:00Hey, what's up? It's Nikki Bond and in the studio with me. I love when Sarah comes because she

00:15brings very special guests. Sarah with Friends for Animals. How are you? Good. How are you?

00:20I am wonderful. I'm so excited. We have a special guest, but I think he's being a little shy right

00:25now. Yeah, his name is Dylan. He's a long-haired cat. He's about five-ish, we think. He's very

00:32sweet. He actually really likes his people, but at the moment, I think he's a little shy.

00:37He did come out and check out the studio. He did. He was playing hide-and-seek for a little

00:41while. Yeah, but he is a big sweetheart. He actually came to our shelter as a lost cat.

00:48So we think he was owned at one point, but unfortunately, his family never found him.

00:53So he has been hanging out at our shelter. He actually has his own little kitty showcase room,

00:59so he's got his own big room that he can hang out in. And he was great on the way here. He actually

01:03just went right in his cage when I put it in his room. Yeah. And he was great in the car. He just

01:09slept, and now he's just kind of chilling. He is chilling out. He's found his safe place,

01:15and he is staying in there. I love that. So how old is Dylan again? We think he's about five. Five,

01:21okay. And he's been at the shelter for a little bit. He actually is a special case. He has tested

01:28positive for FIV, which is feline immunodeficiency virus. He can go on and live a long, happy life

01:37with a family, and he can live with cats that are FIV negative. We do suggest you ask your vet,

01:43but it's only transmitted by deep bite wounds. So as long as, you know, your cats are trying to kill

01:49each other. They will get along fine, but he, so he needs a little extra help getting adopted.

01:56We're going to make sure we get Dylan a good home. Right. He is a good cat. I had one. We were

02:01talking about this, and my cat used to bring me like the weirdest thing, which is, Rick described

02:07it as, my cat thought I was stupid. I don't think so, but I don't know. What does that mean,

02:13though, when the cats, when they go and they bring you a gift? It's a couple different things. It could

02:19be, I have heard that before, that they think you're not capable of hunting for yourself,

02:23but it's also, they see it as kind of, you know, giving their human a present. Like,

02:28I really like you. Here's, here's something that I caught for you. That's sweet. Now,

02:33what type of home are we looking for for Dylan? He seems to really like people. He gets really excited

02:38when people walk in his room and he comes out and sees them. So we're guessing maybe a home that has

02:42people around that, you know, daily someone's there, not all day, but there, can spend time

02:48with him, give him attention. He does, I mean, he's active. He likes playing, but he does still

02:53want to be a lap cat. So. Is he more of an indoor or outdoor cat? We suggest all our cats are indoors

03:00just because it's safer and it is better for their health. And especially him with his FIV,

03:07he's going to need to be an indoor cat. All right. Now, if someone is looking to adopt Dylan,
