During a "Fight Oligarchy" event in Folsom, California on Tuesday, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) demanded the release of Kilmar Abrego Garcia who was wrongfully deported to El Salvador by the Trump Administration.

00:00And activists are being detained with no charge or evidence for using their First Amendment
00:08rights, especially if they are using those First Amendment rights to speak up for Palestinians
00:15and to end the war in Gaza.
00:17In fact, the Trump administration admits that it has jailed a young father and husband,
00:30Mahmoud Khalil, without any evidence or charge of a crime.
00:36They admit that they've thrown Mahmoud in a cell thousands of miles away from his family
00:42because he attended a protest and they did not like the content of his speech.
00:49But I want to be very clear, Folsom, Donald Trump's detention of Mahmoud Khalil for his
00:58speech is anti-American and we demand his release, along with the release of Rumeza Ozturk, who
01:07he is also jailing for writing an op-ed in her school paper.
01:14And we also demand the return of Kilmar Abrego Garcia in El Salvador.
01:23And we tell President Bukele if we believe in democracy, he must be returned.
01:29It is criminal that he is being held abroad.
01:36And we demand these things because we do have power in these, in this moment.
01:42All of us do, everyday people do.
01:45And it will never, ever just be institutions or politicians and officials alone that uphold
01:55our democracy, it will always be the people, the masses, who refuse to comply with authoritarian
02:03regimes, who are the last and strongest defense of our country and our freedoms.
02:10the whole country, all.
02:11The whole country, you know the truth.
02:12The whole country will also be the people that have come to power in this country.
02:14So what are the rules?
02:15The way you aim to come to is set to the people who are not letting America and allow
02:16people to make the full country.
02:17So what are the rules?
02:18And you are all in the rules, their policies are also in liberating the laws of this country,
02:23and is given by the law, they have to be the rules for this country.
02:27We are all in the rules with the laws.
02:33So what does that do, do we constantly do?
