Bridging Hope: A Shropshire Family are Walking Across 70 Bridges for Pancreatic Cancer

00:00My name's Heather Ashton. I live in Bishops Castle but today we're in Clun, at Clunbridge.

00:05And we're walking 70 bridges. We've chosen 70 because that's our average age.

00:12I'm walking with my husband Dave Pope at the back up.

00:15We started this because a friend of mine was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer two years ago nearly.

00:22And she was very fortunate, we told her that she didn't feel very fortunate,

00:27to be given the Whipple operation, Whipple procedure and then a high dose of chemotherapy

00:34and now she's back playing tennis.

00:36So we wanted to do something to give people hope that there could be a way forward

00:42with plenty of research and obviously donations.

00:47So we've done 15 bridges so far, we've been down to Cornwall, into Oxford, up to Lancaster

00:54and other bridges that are more local. So we'd like other people to come and join us if they'd like to.

01:00The walk's only about three to four miles, so most people can manage that, even if they only do half of it.
