00:00Rated M for Mature
00:30We have quite complex characters in the game
00:34They all have like many layers of emotions that we have to bring through
00:37That was brought by the first pass which is the motion capture
00:40But now like the voice acting really like elevates it even more to the next level
00:45And I think we are incredibly fortunate to have been working with this team of actors
00:49Because they really understand the character
00:51And manage yet to bring all the complex emotions and deepest layers of every character
00:57Hide it when it needs to be hidden and make it surface when it needs to be shown
01:01And it's just been an incredible ride working with all the team of actors
01:06Hello, how are you?
01:09Nice to meet you
01:10How are you doing?
01:11I recognise your voice when you're talking about that voice
01:15How do I walk? You're amazing
01:17Well, thank you
01:18It's pretty cool
01:19You're amazing
01:20Yeah, he is
01:21You're amazing
01:22It's very sort of make everyone think it's a team
01:25So, uh, Verso is, um...
01:29Verso is, um, Verso is, is, is, is no one
01:43Um, uh, next question
01:45What?
01:46What?
01:47Stop it
01:48Too cheesy?
01:49No
01:50So, Mayelle is an orphan
01:51And she was, uh, she bounced around from foster home to foster home
01:57And then she was taken in by Gustav and Emma and grew really close to Gustav
02:03You still got a flower to give, no?
02:06Yes
02:07Yes
02:08She's an amazing character
02:10She's so vibrant and full of life and sass
02:15But she's not without, like, complexity or pain
02:18So it's been just such a joy to play her
02:21I think she's one of the most brilliant characters I've ever played, actually
02:26Yeah
02:27I don't understand what's happening
02:30And I feel like I never understood, like...
02:33Like, I'm always missing something that everyone else just gets
02:38Minoko is a gestral who has learned to speak English
02:43And he also enjoys fighting as a method of relaxation
02:47He kind of shows off some of his personality quite early on
02:50He's kind of got a bit of pride and competitiveness
02:54Just trying to show off, I suppose
02:58New friends
03:00You speak our language
03:05Ladies
03:06Could I...
03:08Ow!
03:09Interest you in a duel?
03:11Definitely a gestral
03:13It was kind of written quite clearly
03:15There was obviously some humour in there
03:18I kind of felt that it was a deep voice as a non-human
03:22But he's very articulate
03:24Very well-spoken
03:26And, you know, the way he speaks in sort of proper sentences and such like
03:31And we've had a lot of fun in the sessions, kind of playing with him
03:34And he's sort of exploring his range of emotions
03:39Um, yeah, it's been a lot of fun
03:40The best part of the voice acting was trying to make everybody say merde and putain
03:44All the French words
03:46It was always lovely to try and teach them to have the right pronunciation
03:50Merd
03:51Merd
03:52Merd
03:53Merd
03:54That... is that... how do you say that second one?
03:56Putain
03:57Putain
03:58Putain
03:59Putain
04:00Yeah
04:01Merd
04:02I'm really...
04:03Merd... my mouth doesn't make these noises
04:04Um...
04:05Merd
04:07Merd
04:09Merd
04:10Yes
04:11Yes
04:12Merd
04:13I'll make one more
04:14Putain
04:15Yeah!
04:16Perfect!
04:17What does it mean?
04:19Pu.. pu... putain
04:20Merd
04:21Merd
04:23Ah putain
04:24As the only French person in the room, you're like
04:26No it's not, like this, no it's not like this
04:27No this, like this, and like this
04:28And they're like, it sounds the same
04:30Buuuum
04:31You're not French
04:33It was really easy for me to connect with Ciel
04:37I really valued her optimistic nature
04:41despite what she had been through.
04:43She'd come through so much grief
04:45and she uses that as her power.
04:49And I found that really relatable.
04:52The way that she is with Miel, her nurturing nature,
04:56her maternal nature, her enthusiasm throughout.
05:01And the scene that she has with Luné
05:04is particularly special.
05:07Friends are not distractions.
05:12Where she's nostalgic and she's using that
05:15to connect and interrelate and grow
05:20and again, find her strength to carry on.
05:23Hello, Ranger!
05:25Save our treasure!
05:37Wait, that's...
05:39Is he out?
05:40What? How?
05:45You guys, you're alive!
05:51I thought I was the only one left.
05:55I knew you were resourceful.
05:58So I play Luné.
06:01She's an ambitious, driven woman.
06:04She kind of has inherited this goal from her parents.
06:08A purpose, like a greater purpose and I think she's quite determined with it.
06:13She won't let anything distract her.
06:14It's all about getting to that goal.
06:17She's also quite sarcastic and funny, which I appreciate about her and is not afraid to kind of put the men around her in their place.
06:27I didn't take you for a coward.
06:29I'm not a coward.
06:30You swore the oath.
06:31You swore the oath.
06:32When one falls, we continue.
06:34Yes, I know.
06:35When one falls.
06:37When one falls.
06:39Not if.
06:40When.
06:41I think there are times when maybe there are people around her who are going through quite devastating circumstances
06:51and she can be quite rigid.
06:54But I understand it.
06:56I understand her drive.
06:58This is not the place.
07:01She's such an action hero.
07:02She's so active and her powers are so cool.
07:05There was something very like when I saw her, I was like, wow, she's so cool.
07:09I want to be like her.
07:10So I think that was great to see.
07:12She's very badass.
07:14Yeah.
07:15Eskier is the Eskier.
07:17It's kind of a myth.
07:18You know, he's a mythical creature.
07:20Hello, my friend.
07:21Hello, my friend.
07:22Is that Ciel?
07:23What?
07:24I don't know.
07:25He seems nice.
07:26Bonjour, mes amis.
07:30Bonjour, mon ami.
07:31C'est Al?
07:33What?
07:33I don't know.
07:34He seems nice.
07:36Nobody really knows if he exists or not, so when the expeditioners finally meet him
07:41and he joins the group, it's kind of a big deal.
07:44He becomes their travel companion and their emotional support as well.
07:50Mon ami.
07:51Oh, you've put on a lot of weight.
07:54I think it's completely different because with the motion capture, you can actually
08:01be in the scene.
08:03You have the other actors as well.
08:06It's a mix of theater and being on set.
08:11But when you're voicing a character, you're alone on the booth.
08:14Oh, oh, and François is just like you.
08:19What I really love about Esquiet is that he takes everything so literally.
08:26There are scenes that are quite heavy.
08:29And just sometimes just by Esquiet being there, it really does light the mood.
08:34Yeah, and he's very powerful as well.
08:36Oh, and he can't keep a secret.
08:46It's impossible.
08:47If you tell him something, everyone will know.
08:49Well, apart from one or two things.
08:51We've put some very hard work into the voice acting and we are super excited to be able
09:01to show it to the world.
09:03This is a game made by people who care about the people they're making it for.
09:07Being part of the team, getting to see it's so magical.
09:11And there's so much depth in the story, in the backstory, in the characters.
09:16There's so many layers of emotions and the story is so deep and complex.
09:23I think there's so much here to kind of just absorb and explore.
09:29This is one of the most beautiful projects I've ever worked on.
09:34Get ready for something absolutely beautiful and special and magical.
09:38With truly three-dimensional characters that you can really get under the bones of.
09:44Be part of that expedition yourself.
09:47Well, you will enjoy it. I know you'll enjoy it.
09:49And Minoko will be your favourite character.
09:52Just hope they enjoy it.
09:53I've never been part of something that has just exuded this much passion.
09:57I think it's going to really, really wow people.
10:01And it should. It's fantastic.
10:04Yeah.
10:08I hope you enjoy plundering the many depths of this multi-layered game.
10:36Good day to you.
