Brighton's Maisie Symonds discusses upcoming Liverpool game and Lionesses call-up

Brighton Women's team prospect Maisie Symonds spoke to Henry Bryant about the upcoming Liverpool game and her first England call-up.

00:00It's always a privilege to play and train on this pitch. It's my favourite pitch to play on.

00:04So it's a great way to go into the game knowing we've trained here this week and lovely having

00:09the fans here. Hopefully a lot of them can come down on the weekend and support us for

00:13a massive game. But yeah, it's lovely. It's great preparation for the game. I think that they're a

00:18tough team. They're sort of a counter-attacking team. So I'll have to put a defensive shift in

00:23and try to sort of cover the distance and win the duels for the team. But I'll always do that

00:27and always try to do my best for the team. So similar to normal, yeah, try to get stuck

00:31in. We all love entertaining people and playing in front of big crowds. That's why we are doing

00:36what we're doing. That for me is one of my favourite things is playing in front of people. So to

00:41have them here on training is like a little extra spark. But having Dario in training, he's

00:46very much getting involved. As you can see today, he gets involved in training, tries to

00:49paint the pictures. He's a very, very passionate coach and always wants to sort of, he's very

00:55happy to sort of get stuck in with us and get in and around the training session. He takes

00:58every session himself. So I really enjoy working with him. It's been a really surreal few weeks

01:03because it's felt like a slow and steady build for me as long as I've been at Brighton. Obviously

01:10more recently starting and playing more minutes and being more of a regular player for the team

01:14and then getting an England call up. It just felt like this massive boost for me. I felt a lot

01:18of energy from it. I felt almost just like a little nod that I'm doing all right and I'm pushing

01:23in the right direction. So it's a really, really special moment for me.
