00:00HBO has finally revealed some of the cast of its much-talked-about Harry Potter TV series.
00:05After months of media rumors and reports, HBO finally broke its silence and announced the cast
00:11for the key adult roles in the adaptation of J.K. Rowling's beloved novels, including Dumbledore,
00:17Hagrid, and more. As expected, Emmy winner John Lithgow will take on the critical role of Hogwarts
00:22wise and warm headmaster Albus Dumbledore. Oscar nominee Janet McTeer will take on the role of
00:28Stern Transfiguration professor Minerva McGonagall. Nick Frost will play lovable Hogwarts gamekeeper
00:34Rubius Hagrid. And as first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Papa Esiedu will take on
00:39the role of the sneering potions professor Severus Snape. In addition to the four series regulars,
00:44actor Luke Thallen will play defense against the dark arts professor Quirrell. And Paul Whitehouse
00:49has been cast as the caretaker Ergus Filch. Lithgow had previously confirmed he'd accepted the role,
00:55telling one outlet, it was not an easy decision because it's going to define me for the last
01:00chapter of my life. I'm afraid, but I'm very excited. Some wonderful people are turning their
01:05attention back to Harry Potter. That's why it's been such a hard decision. I'll be about 87 years
01:10old at the wrap party, but I've said yes. Esiedu's casting has caused a stir among some fans as Snape
01:17has traditionally been viewed as a white character, famously portrayed by the late Alan Rickman in the
01:23Warner Brothers film series. Mark Milod, executive producer and director of multiple episodes, has
01:28said nobody can replace Alan Rickman, but we can find the next Alan Rickman. HBO's plan is to adapt
01:35each of Rowling's seven novels into a season of television. For more updates to the story,
