00:04It was like, oh, if it's not Wembin, it's this guy.

00:07The award was done.

00:08So like, all right, I guess Jaron Jackson Jr. and Evan Mobley.

00:11And then that was a little bit of a thing.

00:13And then Draymond's like, I'm DPOI.

00:15And then I guess people were like, he said he's DPOI.

00:17We'll click.

00:18And the Bucs were like, I think he's DPOI.

00:19And then all of a sudden, Mobley got back in the race.

00:23The Defensive Player of the Year award is very, very tricky right now.

00:28So I, my biggest take on the award is I wish that there wasn't a games requirement

00:36so I could just give it a Chad Holmgren, but that's preposterous, I know.

00:41I don't know if Mobley's case is great.

00:43I don't think Draymond's is good enough.

00:46Dyson Daniels has been great on Atlanta, but the defense is still not,

00:49the defense is not that great.

00:53Like, it's a tough situation he's in playing next to Trey.

00:55Dyson Daniels, you like Dyson Daniels if you had the vote?

00:59Yeah, I like Dyson Daniels pretty much for the better part of the last two months.

01:02His ability to steal the ball and guard the ball.

01:04And I think, I think he should, I know this sounds wild, but say,

01:07I think you should get credit for playing next to Trey.

01:11I think that's fair.

01:12I think it holds weight on the fact that he's playing against a guy that has,

01:16I mean, you want to talk about Luka not wanting to play defense?

01:19I mean, I think Luka tries, he just misses assignments.

01:23I don't think Trey even tries to play defense.

01:26So, to me, a team that's poor defensively, that ended up, you know,

01:31losing Jalen Johnson, a pretty good defender to injury,

01:35trading DeAndre Hunter, one of the better 3D guys in the league,

01:39and this guy's defense, to me, I think, elevating, playing next to Trey Young,

01:43it's a wild thing because no one ran away from it.

01:46You can say, Evan Mobley, man, people like Jaron Jackson Jr.,

01:50I don't like, because I just don't think he rebounds the ball enough.

01:54You know, to me, for what he does, stopping guards,

01:57and guards dominate the league, I think it's Dyson Daniels, in my opinion.

02:01It really comes down to what you value, right?

02:03Like, is it because, and frankly, as we've talked about,

02:06Trey Young's a liability on defense.

02:08So, like, Daniels is elevating part of the defense by himself.

02:13And doing it shorthanded and not fully healthy.

02:15Do you value what Evan Mobley does?

02:18Do you value what Draymond does?

02:19That's why I think the award is,

02:21it's actually one of the more difficult awards to break down,

02:24because it can't just be on stats.

02:25Then we're looking at the advanced stats, the underlying metrics,

02:27the on-off stuff.

02:28But what's so bizarre, like, again, like for Atlanta,

02:31they're under .500.

02:32That's tough.

02:33That's tough.

02:33It's not, it wouldn't go for me, it wouldn't go to Daniel.

02:35Evan, Cleveland is not one of the top five defenses in basketball.

02:41I don't, like, there's a misconception, I think, that they are.

02:44Neither are the Golden State Warriors.

02:46I wouldn't hate if Jalen Williams won it for Oklahoma City,

02:49but he doesn't, again, seem to be in the race.
