00:01The by-election for the Ayri Kuning state seat on April 26th will see a three-cornered fight involving Barisan National, Perikatan National, and Party Socialist Malaysia.

00:11BN is represented by UMNO's Yusri Bakir, while PN has named its TAPA chairman, Abdul Muhaymin Malik, from PAS as its candidate for the polls.

00:20Yusri and Muhaymin will face PSM's KS Bawani, who was also the party's candidate in the 15th general election in November 2022.

00:29Their candidacy was announced by Election Commission, returning officer Ahmad Radauddin Ahmad Shokori at Day 1 Merdeka in TAPA, Bayrak, after nominations closed at 10 a.m.

00:39The by-election follows the death of UMNO Assemblyman Isshan Shahruddin on February 22nd, who won the seat in the last general election with a 2,213 vote majority in a five-cornered contest.

00:51Early voting for the state by-election has been set for April 22nd, with polling day scheduled for April 26th and the campaign period starting today will last for 14 days until 11.59 p.m. on April 25th.
