00:42Emperor Shah Jahan and you can see his name and his title and the name of the sword in
00:49this inscription on the back edge of the blade.
01:00The arms and armor is a collection belonging to a French connoisseur collector called Philippe
01:05Messillier. He collected over 50 years. He had an extraordinary eye and appreciation of quality
01:14and historical importance. The collection comprises approximately 130 pieces and they illustrate
01:23the history of the great Muslim dynasties in Iran, Turkey and India.
01:29Philippe Messillier was interested in objects that told a story, in weapons that belong to
01:44important historical figures and also interested in pieces of great beauty. So it's a combination
01:52of aesthetic, intellectual and historical motivations.
