Just Stop Oil protesters deny criminal damage after latex poured on Tesla robot

Two Just Stop Oil protesters have denied criminal damage after liquid latex was poured over a robot at a Tesla store in West London.

00:0663-year-old Nigel Fleming and 74-year-old Catherine Nash are both charged with causing

00:12£2,696.40 in criminal damage after an incident at the Westfield Tesla store in Shepherd's

00:24bush on March 12th when liquid latex was poured over a robot. Nigel Fleming, who was representing

00:32himself, pleaded not guilty at Westminster Magistrate's Court. Catherine Nash is also

00:40representing herself and appeared by a video link, having pleaded not guilty at a previous

00:47hearing that was adjourned to tie up her case with Fleming's on Tuesday.

00:52Fleming of Worcester Crescent in London said it is accepted that they carried out the

00:59action, but they had a quote-unquote lawful excuse. He also told the court that the value

01:05of the damage was less than that was alleged. Wearing a white hoodie and glasses around his

01:12neck, Fleming said, quote-unquote, we were very careful to try and make it so that the

01:19mannequin was not damaged. He added he was very surprised that there was damage to anything.
