00:00Meanwhile, the Balinsasayaw Twin Lakes brought pride to the province of Negros Oriental as it was declared as ASEAN Heritage Park recently.
00:09Roy Lumotan of Philippine Information Agency, Negros Oriental tells us more.
00:16A hidden paradise lies 13.5 kilometers north of Dumaguete City in the province of Negros Oriental.
00:24Known as the Twin Lakes because of the two lakes that are adjacent to each other, this 8,016 hectares of forestland is a protected area by virtue of Proclamation No. 414 of former President Joseph Ejército Estrada.
00:39The Twin Lakes was recently declared as ASEAN Heritage Park by the ASEAN Center for Biodiversity on November 29, 2024.
00:48This is our greatest achievement in the year 2024. This is the first in the Visayan region and the 13th AHP in the whole Philippines.
00:59Its pristine waters and lush forests are home to more than 427 species of flora and fauna which are endemic in Negros Island.
01:09It's also a watershed area supplying potable water to 500,000 residents of the province.
01:15You will be able to protect the environment because we will be using a lot of clean water.
01:21The DNR will put a marker in this area. This symbolizes that the Balinsasayaw Twin Lakes is a national treasure that Negros Oriental can show to the world.
01:30From Philippine Information Agency, Negros Oriental, Roy Lumotan, Balitang Pambansa.
