00:00The exercise mobilizes various branches, including army, navy, air force, and rocket force,
00:08and the goal is to train the capability to control not only over the traditional space,
00:15like air, sea, and land, but also over the electromagnetic spectrum and cyberspace.
00:23So we are seeing this exercise, or this drill, is actually having a clear picture to showing
00:32off how, in the event of invasion, how the PLA will take over and react.
00:41The most important goal here is to exercise cutting off Taiwan from the supply of energy,
00:49food, trade, and prevent the chance for external actors to step in.
00:57There's a common view, especially in Europe, I think, that comparing Ukraine and Taiwan together,
01:03however, this is compare orange and apple. They're different species, and for Americans,
01:10Ukraine is Europe's problem, and it has to be solved by Europeans.
01:19But the Indo-Pacific is getting more important for the U.S., and it's not just the U.S.,
01:28but also organizing or collaborating with the country in the region.
01:33But I think there's a key message here, or a key difference between a real invasion
01:39and these kinds of exercises. Even though it's showing off to all the people,
01:44this is sending a political message, especially to Taiwan and the United States,
01:49maybe somehow a little bit to Japan as well.
