Texas Rangers manager Bruce Bochy joined the K&C Masterpiece for the first time in 2025 to talk about the team’s 3-2 start to the season, what he saw during Kumar Rocker’s rough start against the Reds last night, how Adolis Garcia has gotten off to a hot start at the plate and more!

00:00Coach, I was, I was very interested to see how Adolis would step to the plate because

00:20I know he kind of worked on shortening the swing a little bit and then he went kind of

00:24back to what he typically does and then he gets up there and now he's, he's just crushing

00:30again and that's awesome to see and then, you know, I love when he points over at you

00:33guys in the dugout after he hits a bomb too.

00:36Is there, what is the, the thing that kind of worked for him?

00:39Was it just kind of getting away from what he did and then find, refining himself?

00:42What do you see in there?

00:44Yeah, I think more than anything, combining, you know, his, his adjustment that he made

00:50this winter, shorten up the swing, kind of helped his ability, not only lay off the

00:56high pitch, but, you know, to handle that upper rail fastball by being a little quicker

01:02to it, cut back to strikeouts, maybe cut back some chasing, yeah, he probably overdid it

01:10a little bit and took away from what we want him to do and that's some slugging and so

01:15anyway, he made the adjustment, I thought, you know, when he got a little bit of time

01:23off there in spring training, you know, I think he looked at some things and, and made

01:28that adjustment and, and so now he's got them both working and now we got the player that

01:33we saw in 2023, a guy that's under control, that's good balance up there and he's laying

01:39off pitches, but yeah, you know, he's looking to do damage on them.

01:44When he first started spring training, he was in a contact mode and that's not the Garcia

01:48that we wanted or want, but, you know, to his credit though, he, he did make that adjustment,

01:56so I think the first adjustment helped the second.
