00:00It's Biarr Garden weather on Tyneside but hopefully the Biarrs have worn off Newcastle

00:06United ahead of Wednesday's Premier League clash against Brentford at St James' Park.

00:12It's been two weeks of partying on Tyneside, a party that has been 70 years in the making

00:18or 56 years in the making if you want to link back to Newcastle United's last trophy, 70

00:23of course, the last domestic trophy. So it's been a celebration that's been thoroughly

00:28deserved. The Taumua event on Saturday was magnificent, the open top bus parade was incredible.

00:33The Taumua event of course fantastic as well, about 300,000 people in attendance for both

00:39so it just shows how much that trophy win meant to the city of Newcastle and of course

00:45Eddie Howe and his players. But Eddie Howe and his press conference this morning, very

00:49keen to move away from that now. Newcastle United have got 10 Premier League games left

00:54and what a position they're in to hopefully go on and get Champions League football. The

00:59position at this moment in time is it looks like five teams are going to qualify for the

01:04Champions League because of UEFA coefficient rules. Newcastle currently sit sixth in the

01:09table, one point behind fifth-placed Manchester City and two points behind fourth-placed Chelsea

01:14all with a game, well Newcastle have got a game in hand on those two teams mentioned

01:18there and the teams as well because of that Carabao Cup final involvement. So what a position

01:23they're in and I think there should be a determination now within Eddie Howe's dressing

01:28room to go on and seal Champions League qualification because look it'll go down as a special season

01:33regardless of what happens now. Newcastle have won the Cup, they've ended all those

01:38years of hurt but what a magnificent season it would be if they can go and get Champions

01:43League football. The running starts on Wednesday night against Brentford, a team who are in

01:49form themselves. Unbelievable away record of late, five away wins in a row whereas Newcastle's

01:56home form has been a little bit patchy. Newcastle have been excellent in the Cup competitions

02:01this season, obviously apart from getting knocked out of Brighton but in the Carabao

02:04Cup, excellent in that competition of course because they won it. The league form as much

02:10as they won those six games in a row after losing to Brentford in the reverse fixture

02:14in December at the GTEC Community Stadium. Newcastle haven't really performed to the

02:20levels they know they can this season but having said that, find themselves in an absolutely

02:23fantastic position to really attack those final ten Premier League games. So yeah, team

02:30tomorrow I'd expect it would be unchanged. Eddie Howe this morning gave an entry update

02:36on Anthony Gordon who of course is suspended for tomorrow night's game, the last of his

02:42three-game suspension after missing the Carabao Cup final in West Ham but of course he played

02:47for England and played in the first game, came off the bench against Albania and took

02:51a really nasty bruise on his thigh. Eddie Howe said he hasn't trained yet but should

02:58return to train the next couple of days so should be fit for Newcastle's trip to Leicester

03:04which is next up on Monday. Sven Bottman has undergone surgery, he is fully into his recovery

03:11now but is still around about a month away. Lewis Hall of course ruled out for the rest

03:16of the season. Another one as well, Jamala Sells, reading between the lines it looks

03:20like Jamala Sells might not play again this season. Of course he's been out just over

03:2612 months now since that ACL injury, I don't think Newcastle are of the mind to rush him

03:31back but does that mean Jamala Sells has played his last game in Newcastle Unitedshire? Potentially

03:36because he is out of contract at the end of the season, talks haven't taken place over

03:40a new contract so he's certainly at risk of playing his last game for the football

03:44club. Amongst the Carabao Cup celebrations it was really, really nice and fitting of

03:50him that he got to hold the trophy at Wembley and then at the time alongside Kieran Trippier

03:55and Bruno Gemmarich because Jamala Sells has been a fantastic servant for this football

04:00club, guided them through some really, really tough times. Stood up against his teammates

04:06in that relegation season when there was a lot of players in that dressing room who didn't

04:08care about Newcastle, Jamala Sells was the one that stood up for the football club and

04:12then the captaincy from Rafa Benitez and has been the captain ever since. Incredible journey

04:17for him really from winning the Championship title to playing in the Champions League and

04:21then although he didn't play in the Carabao Cup final he got his chance to lift the trophy

04:25so yeah to Simone's press comments of course a lot of colour around the Carabao Cup final

04:31and how Newcastle United are going to react from that now because I think if two weeks

04:36ago you could have ended the season there and everyone would have been happy but I think

04:39now the dust has settled of course we can enjoy Newcastle United winning a trophy for the first

04:45time in so long but they've also got a really big opportunity and Champions League football

04:51is massive even more so now because of the financial incentive it has. I think that's

04:57probably the biggest thing now the amount of money you get from the Champions League of course

05:01you play against all the best teams in Europe but financially Newcastle PSR want to spend money in

05:08the transfer market, Champions League football is a big part of that so I'm sure those at the top

05:15of the football club will be reminding Eddie Howe of that but not that Eddie Howe needs reminding

05:19he wants to get Newcastle back to the Champions League because a couple of seasons ago as well

05:23they didn't really perform as they could in that competition and just fell short of qualifying for

05:29a lot of stages so unfinished business there but yeah they've got to get there first and they've

05:33got a big opportunity and that starts with Brentford at St James' Park on Wednesday night.
