00:00Good afternoon, I'm Chief Inspector Paul Cash, I lead on local policing across Kettering.

00:05On Friday evening, the emergency services were called to a devastating fire on Station Road,

00:10Rushton, that has tragically resulted in the deaths of three people.

00:15We believe them to be a four-year-old girl, a 30-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man.

00:21On behalf of everyone involved with responding to this fire, I would like to express our deepest

00:26and heartfelt condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of those who died.

00:32A thorough investigation is underway into the circumstances of the fire and we're working

00:38very closely with Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service to find the answers that their

00:42loved ones need and deserve. We're also working in very difficult and dangerous conditions

00:48to safely and respectfully recover those who have died and enable formal identification.

00:55The families involved are being kept updated through their family liaison officers and our

01:00thoughts will remain with them at this incredibly difficult time. Although the emergency services

01:05are well trained and prepared for challenging situations, a job like this is still incredibly

01:10difficult for us all. Those who responded to this call out on Friday night, both emergency services

01:17and local residents, did all they could to try and help and I would like to highlight their

01:22incredibly brave and selfless efforts. I know how hard it was for everyone involved,

01:27that they could not do more and I know their thoughts are with everyone affected.

01:33I would also like to thank the Rushton community for their support and patience while we carry out

01:38our investigative work. We know this incident has caused significant distress locally and

01:43our officers will remain in the area providing reassurance and help where we can. In relation

01:48to this investigation, one arrest has been made and we will provide updates surrounding this as

01:53soon as we can. This investigation is well underway but remains in its early stages

01:59and it will take time to fully establish what has happened. On behalf of the families involved,

02:04I would ask that their privacy is respected at this difficult time. Thank you.
