Tropical Cyclone Dianne makes landfall as category one system in Western Australia

Tropical Cyclone Dianne crossed the coast in Western Australia's north in the early hours of Saturday morning, bringing with it rain and for now, moderate wind.

00:07morning, and local authorities issuing another storm advice moments ago for Kimberley and

00:13the Pilbara regions.

00:15Now the system is still tracking as a Category 1 tropical cyclone, but expected to weaken

00:21to a tropical low when it reaches Derby just before midday.

00:25This is the ninth tropical cyclone to form off the Australian coast, and just the second

00:30to make landfall here in WA after tropical cyclone Zelia earlier this year.

00:36As mentioned, local authorities issuing that storm warning earlier today, so local residents

00:41are certainly urged to keep abreast of local conditions before heading out, if deciding

00:45to head out at all.
