00:00Hello, I know I should be here today in front of you in person, but I am not and it is not because I do not want to, but because I am afraid.
00:17I am afraid to present myself in a country where those who have the power can do whatever they want.
00:24I am afraid of a system where money decides who is guilty, because they have already taken away my freedom twice for the same case, despite my innocence.
00:35I am afraid because my life and my safety are not a priority for justice, but although I am afraid, I will not remain silent.
00:46What is happening to me is not a coincidence, it has a name and a surname, Javier Rodríguez Borgio, ex-boyfriend of my sister.
00:54A man with power and money who, for revenge, has used the law as his weapon to attack us.
01:00In the United States he cannot do anything to us, but in Mexico he can, and since he cannot touch my sister, he is doing it to me.
01:07And I am not the first woman he does this to, he has done it before, because he is used to playing with the law, used to manipulating the system,
01:16to use his influence to destroy the women who challenge him, because he believes that money can do everything.
01:24A year ago, when I entered Mexico, I was unjustly arrested in the Santa Marta prison.
01:29I went through a legal process, presented my evidence, and the judge determined that I was innocent.
01:35I was granted absolute freedom, but they reopened an arrest warrant for the same case, without evidence, based on pure lies, and I was arrested again.
01:45They violated the law.
01:47If justice had already spoken, how is it possible that they would deprive me of my freedom again?
01:52This is not justice, this is abuse of power and it is gender violence.
01:58When they arrested me, I felt terror, not only because of the injustice I was experiencing, but because I believed that they would disappear or kill me.
02:07At that moment, the best thing that could happen to me was that they were really taking me to the Santa Marta prison.
02:15I would have preferred a thousand times to go to that prison, a place where nobody wants to be before being taken to an unknown destination.
02:25And that is the reality of the justice that we are living.
02:28They took away my freedom, my dignity, and my tranquility.
02:33I was the victim of abuse of power, of a cold and calculated strategy to destroy my image, my emotional stability, my source of work, and most importantly, my faith.
02:47It is difficult to maintain faith when the evidence is so great, but I believe in his word and I know that God gives us evidence that we cannot overcome.
02:55And today I have in my hands all the evidence that demonstrates the irregularities and abuse of this legal process.
03:02Evidence that was given to the relevant people and that was still ignored.
03:08My rights were trampled, I was denied for hours, they treated me like a criminal,
03:15they exposed me to public scorn and turned it into a show.
03:20But the most painful thing is that this is not just my story.
03:25There in that prison, a woman looked me in the eye and told me something that I will never forget.
03:32We don't have a voice, but you do.
03:35Here are not the culprits, here are the assholes, those who don't have money, those who don't have power, and those who don't have contacts.
03:44If you leave here and remain silent, you will be just like them.
03:48The real criminals are out there.
03:51This for me was like a bucket of cold water because she was right.
03:57What kind of justice is this where money and power dictate who is innocent and who is not?
04:04Where women without resources are forgotten behind the walls of a prison while the real culprits are free.
04:12I don't know how many of them are innocent, but I do know that many never had the opportunity to defend themselves.
04:19And if God put me there, even if it was for a day, it was so that I could see with my own eyes what they lived,
04:26so that I could hear their voices and understand that this fight is not just for me,
04:30but for all those women who have been silenced, violated, locked up and forgotten,
04:37for all those who have been persecuted for not giving in to abuse.
04:41That is why today I stand here with a greater responsibility than ever,
04:46not only to defend myself, but to raise the voice for all.
04:51Who would not be afraid to lose their freedom, even with a shield that protects them?
04:56Who would not fear a system where money tilts the scale?
05:00How not to be afraid when even those who should defend us prefer to be silent?
05:06But above fear, I have faith, and faith is stronger than fear.
05:12Today I demand justice.
05:15I am not with you physically because nothing guarantees my safety,
05:19because after everything I have lived, I need to recover,
05:22because the suffering has been great, but even so, I will not remain silent.
05:28If justice is true, it will protect me and protect me as the innocent human being that I am,
05:34because there is no worse injustice than a system that instead of protecting us, punishes us.
05:41I demand that the evidence be reviewed, that the laws be respected and that justice be done,
05:45not only for me, but for all those women who have been victims of this corrupt system.
05:51And there is a phrase that strikes me a lot, which was said by Ivor Einstein,
05:56the only thing that is needed for evil to triumph is for the good to do nothing.
06:01And today, I choose to do something.
06:04With fear, yes, but with the determination that this injustice is not impunity,
06:09with the certainty that God has a purpose and that his justice always prevails,
06:14because I know that he is with me and that I am not alone.
06:18Today is my story, but tomorrow it may be that of another woman.
06:23If no one raises their voice, the abuse continues, but if we do it together, no one will be able to silence us.
