00:00Ines Marta, Senior Portfolio Manager at KfW,
00:03office in Amman, for the water sector.
00:05Guillaume Merer, responsable du Pôle eau énergie
00:08pour l'AFD à Amman en Jordanie.
00:10Jordan is one of the most water-scarce countries in the world.
00:13Depending on where you live, you may have water
00:16once per week, once every two weeks, or once per month.
00:19AFD in Jordan participated, amongst others,
00:21in the Wadi Al Arab treatment plant project,
00:24which has a capacity of 80,000 cubic meters per day
00:27of potable water, which is sent to Irbin.
00:30From KfW, we support the Jordanian partners
00:33in rehabilitating the King Abdullah Canal,
00:35so that less water is being lost
00:38and can be used for the Jordanian population
00:41for drinking water purposes.
00:42We do mostly loans to the government
00:46and some grants in addition.
00:48We provide also technical expertise.
00:51We also give concessional loan financings,
00:54which means that the loan is a bit less expensive
00:58than a market loan and therefore more attractive.
01:01We propose projects to the European Union.
01:04If they are consistent with the strategies of the Union,
01:07then we can propose the financing to our Jordanian partners,
01:11who will implement the project.
01:12We also exchange on our challenges,
01:14which really helps to become better
01:17and to support each other.
