00:11MAHP's Corporate Communications General Manager Shubreen Mah told FMT that there had been
00:16no disruption of flights at KLIA and no passengers were stranded at the airport.
00:22Mah was responding to a New Straits Times report which cited a source as saying that
00:26the cyberattack had disrupted KLIA's systems for over 10 hours on March 23.
00:32The source said the incident had rendered the airport's flight information display system,
00:36check-in counters and baggage handling inoperative, forcing airlines and airport staff to switch
00:42to manual operations.
00:44The source said that the situation was made worse by the lack of a robust backup system
00:49which slowed recovery efforts.
00:51Yesterday Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim revealed that hackers had breached MAHP's digital system
00:56and demanded US$10 million, but said the government refused to comply.
