Sports bans at the Olympics

No athlete activism. No swimming caps for natural hair.  These rules at the 2021 Olympics are drawing criticism...

00:04They say that Black Lives Matter can't be shown anywhere in the Olympic ceremony.

00:08This is discrimination.

01:00Whether they should remain that, that should remain the rule is a different issue.

01:08But the rules are the rules and I was really proud of the way she responded.

01:19It is ridiculous that weed has this stigma.

01:22This country's obsession with criminalizing cannabis is so embarrassing.

01:26Stop drug testing for weed.

03:01It was built on, you know, the slain of the Native Americans who were here before them.

03:12The Tokyo Olympics formerly banned swim workouts for people with Afro hair, basically Black people.

03:42When I was younger, there was a girl that swimming who said that a lot of Black girls

03:48drop out of swimming because they can't manage their hair.

03:51And everybody left at the time, including myself.

03:53But now upon reflection, she was bang on with what she said.

04:04Black people tend to have really big,

04:07coarser hair that is hard to fit into the caps that are already made for them.

04:10And somebody made caps for their hair that would be able to hold it.

04:14That way, they don't have to cut it or do anything to it.

04:28In response to this, the Black Women's Association stated that it was very

04:32disappointing. And that's very disappointing and racist as hell.

05:02So

05:32I don't think it will hurt her as much as what she had to suffer in 2009

05:47of having to prove that she was a female.

05:50But for me, it's a landmark decision in world sport.

05:55And a bad decision.

05:56A bad decision as far as I'm concerned.
