00:00How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is the gift that keeps on giving.
00:03I think it's probably my favorite rom-com I've done.
00:06And it's a lot of people love that rom-com.
00:08And it still pays the best mailbox money of any film I've ever done.
00:16Residual is the whole thing.
00:17By far.
00:18Matthew McConaughey just revealed which of his movies scores him the biggest payday,
00:22telling the Happy Sad Confused podcast that
00:24How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days is still his biggest moneymaker.
00:28All right, all right, all right.
00:30McConaughey also called the 2003 flick opposite Kate Hudson
00:33his favorite rom-com he's ever done.
00:36The 56-year-old actor shared that when the movie came out,
00:38he used to get the biggest check in March
00:41because of all the DVD and cable rentals from Valentine's Day.
00:45How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days has found new life on social media.
00:48Earlier this summer, when the Knicks won the NBA Finals,
00:51a scene from the movie went viral,
00:53where Hudson and McConaughey's characters are on a date night
00:56at a Knicks game at Madison Square Garden.
00:58Take a look.
01:00Yeah!
01:00Can you give me a soda?
01:02Uh, yes.
01:03I'm sorry.
01:04McConaughey revealed a few years ago to Vanity Fair
01:06that a fortune teller actually convinced him to star in the movie.
01:10The actor said he was approached by a stranger,
01:12telling him if he didn't do the movie,
01:14it would be one of the biggest regrets of his life.
01:16The man also told him it was going to make a bunch of money.
01:19McConaughey said originally he thought the movie studio
01:22was behind the mystery man who went up to him,
01:24but added that he thinks he accepted the offer
01:26the day after that interaction.
01:28As for Kate Hudson,
01:29she's spoken fondly about working with McConaughey,
01:32calling making the movie a truly amazing experience.
01:35She said she felt really lucky
01:36that she got to work with someone as talented and fun as McConaughey.
01:39McConaughey went on to star in many other rom-coms,
01:42including co-starring with Hudson again in 2008's Fool's Gold.
01:46He played Dallas, the owner of a male strip club
01:48and former exotic dancer in 2012's Magic Mike.
01:51McConaughey then took a more serious turn in his acting career,
01:55winning the Oscar for Best Actor in 2014
01:57for his performance in Dallas Buyers Club.
02:00He went on to play an astronaut alongside Anne Hathaway

02:07His new film in theaters now,

02:11is getting stellar reviews too.
02:13But despite an impressive film career,
02:15McConaughey is still beloved for his classic 2000s rom-coms,
02:18from failure to launch to ghost of girlfriend's past.
