Bernie calls Trump racist

"We now have a President of the United States who is a racist." — Yep, Bernie Sanders said that.

00:00It gives me no pleasure to tell you that we now have a president of the United States who is a racist.

00:10And we have a president intentionally, purposely is trying to divide us up by the color of

00:32our skin, by our gender, by the country we came from, by our religion.

00:55Do you believe President Trump is a racist?

00:57Yeah.

00:58No question.

00:59How can you say that?

01:00You had some very bad people in that group.

01:03But you also had people that were very fine people on both sides.

01:09But you had many people in that group other than neo-Nazis and white nationalists, okay?

01:15And the press has treated them absolutely unfairly.

01:30It's only aggressive because in our country we have so refrained from calling out racism

01:36for what it is.

01:37I can say that the legal defense fund, the organization I lead, we sued the president

01:43challenging his election protection commission that he created when he first came into office.

01:47And we sued him on the grounds that it was intentionally discriminatory.

01:52We sued the decision to rescind TPS status from Haitians.

01:55And we have charged racial discrimination.

01:57So I don't feel that this is the last candidate who's going to say that.

02:02I do think in this country we refrain from using that word, but we should understand

02:06that calling someone racist is not worse than people actually being racist.
