It's not just you — some of the 2020 candidates' logos are odd, ugly, or...too pink. A graphic designer ranks them.

00:00This line does not look like it's perfectly centered and it's tripping me out a little bit.
00:30For having a well-done logo in a presidential campaign you're really like creating a lasting
00:37memory. Obama did a great job at this obviously throughout his campaign and it's still things
00:43that people wear on t-shirts and they've left the bumper stickers on and you know that really shows
00:48what great design it was. This is nice it's a little bit varsity but not in a bad way necessarily.
00:57We didn't see anyone else divide up the 2020 like that and 2020 is such a perfect number to split
01:03while still being very clear as to what it is. Maybe he's trying to appeal to like a younger
01:09generation since it is a little more like sporty varsity-esque than a lot of the other ones we've
01:15seen. I think people are taking that chance to be presidentially like you know not quite as
01:20appropriate with their logo design because our environment is allowing for a lot more
01:27experimentation. I think the Biden one is actually pretty well done. It's an interesting choice to
01:32make the e like the flag. It could come across as kind of corny but I feel like it was pretty
01:38thought out and a little bit unique while still not being like overly designed. I keep doing this
01:46because it's like a very contained unit you know you can slap it on a bumper sticker on a
01:53um a sign in someone's yard really easily and I feel like it's bold enough that you're going to
01:58be able to see it from a distance. Overall presidential logo design probably like a nine.
02:04She doesn't look like she's running for president she looks like she's starting up like her own
02:08clothing line. This shade of pink is a little bit too like bubble gummy. This is a good logo design
02:15I think overall. I don't hate it but for a presidential logo this is not it. It's a little
02:23bit weird how his name stays in a straight across line and then the the wave kind of comes in and
02:31out of the word mark but it's not bad overall. There's so many candidates running that I feel
02:36like a lot of people are trying to stand out and do something a little bit more unique and
02:42memorable. I feel like now I've seen his logo so many times that it's like oh it's Bernie's logo
02:47which I mean I guess it did its job. This one is a little wild. The typography is like very
02:54playful and there's quite a few different type styles going on and seeing this kind of bright
03:00green and blue. The for America part of it is not terrible. The typography for Amy is a little
03:08aggressive. It's a little bit more of like a playful name as well I think so that paired with
03:13the playful font like I don't think that people are gonna really take her that seriously. This
03:18line does not look like it's perfectly centered and it's tripping me out a little bit. The type
03:23choice is very different I feel like from a lot of what we've seen before. Almost a little more like
03:28rugged like a little more hand-done rather than a lot of the other typography that we've seen so
03:32far has been very clean cut. I'm gonna go with presidential
03:40eight and overall design nine. It looks like it would be like a book cover which is not a bad
03:48thing. Splitting her name you know in the blue color versus for the people in the red really
03:55helps kind of break up that amount of text because it's kind of lengthy compared to a lot of the
04:01other ones that we've seen and it's all at the same type size. I feel like too at a small scale
04:07you wouldn't necessarily be able to read this very well but like on a billboard or something
04:13it would work great. It works because it's a singular unit. Again there is something to be
04:18said for putting things in a box like it comes off almost like a stamp like it's very purposeful.
04:25Honestly it's a pretty strong presidential logo. It's pretty
04:30classic and it's a strong unit by itself.
04:42I feel like the most surprising part to me was how many people were pushing the boundaries. We
04:47saw quite a few people using like pinks or different shades of like aquas and greens
04:52and things like that. The best presidential one I would have to go with Biden. I feel like it's a very
04:58classic logo with still like a little bit of a unique twist to it. The worst presidential logo
05:03is definitely the Marianne 2020. I feel like it's a really nice logo design but it is
05:10completely inappropriate for the presidential campaign.
