Four years after Russia launched its full-scale invasion, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said Moscow has not “broken Ukrainians” or won the war, insisting his country has withstood the onslaught from Russia’s larger and better-equipped military.

Over the past year, Russian forces captured just 0.79% of Ukraine’s territory, according to the Washington-based Institute for the Study of War. Russia now controls nearly 20% of the country, as the conflict continues to test Kyiv’s resilience and fuel concerns in Europe over the scope of the Kremlin’s ambitions.
