00:19such as Lintaon Peak and the 16,000 blossoms in Baybay City,
00:23Canigaw Island in Matalum, Leyte
00:25and Bacmarin Park in Liloan, Southern Leyte,
00:28the income of Eastern Visayas reached P39.33 billion in 2024
00:35or an increase of 24.8% from the previous year.
00:40In the latest report by the Department of Tourism Region 8,
00:43the tourism earnings of more than 1.66 million tourists in 2024
00:49with more than 5.5 million visitors in the same day were revealed.
00:54DOT Eastern Visayas Regional Director Karina Rosa-Tiopes said
00:58that 95% of the region is already recovering
01:02from the outbreak of the pandemic.
01:07In the essence of asking people to visit the country
01:10and the different destinations in the Philippines
01:13is because we are able to bring them
01:19not just an experience of a particular activity
01:23but experiencing the people that we are.
01:27Included in the region's activities are the so-called Infinite Scapes
01:31that include nature and adventure, diving, surfing,
01:35historical places and cultures,
01:38tourism for education, cruise destinations, motorcycle tourism,
01:43meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions,
01:46or MySea tourism, and the latest, golf tourism.
01:50DOT Eastern Visayas Regional Director Karina Rosa-Tiopes said
01:53that DOT 8 is positive that it can exceed the tourism earnings
01:56by 2025 in order to increase the work and income
01:59for the communities and help the entire economy of the region.
