Tracey Emin's Sex and Solitude: An unmissable exhibition of love, loss and healing in Florence

00:07She's a forerunner of feminist artists, for sure,

00:10and she touches themes that really are relevant

00:14for all kinds of persons, all kinds of experiences of life.

00:18And why? Because she's very sincere.

00:20Because of her openness.

00:22There is no filter, and there is no structure.

00:52is the first institutional show in Italy

00:55of one of the strongest voices in the contemporary art world.

01:00We are very proud to present this exhibition today,

01:03an exhibition quite complete,

01:05because it spans from the beginning to the last works of Tracy.

01:12You can feel the complexity of the artist,

01:16of her output, of her message,

01:19a message which is always very sincere, very strong.

01:22I think that Tracy's work can touch us in depth.

02:22Yeah, neon are one of the most famous languages used by the artist,

02:27and neon are related to her youth in Margate,

02:31where it was full of neons in the shops, in the bars, in the restaurants.

02:36So neon are part of her autobiography,

02:40and her writings became really iconic.

02:44And I think the message that we can read,

02:47we can feel in these texts are really incredibly strong,

02:51and Tracy proved herself as a great writer, as a great poet,

02:56not only as a visual artist.
