00:03Derbyshire County Council has submitted applications for planning consents

00:07that mark a milestone in the project to transform County Hall in Matlock.

00:11A full planning application has been submitted for the refurbishment and renovation of the winter gardens,

00:16demolition of the Smedley Street bridges,

00:18demolition of various outbuildings, the former stable block and business centre

00:22and general repairs and improvements.

00:24Listed building consent for these works is also being sought by the local authority.

00:29Alongside this, permission will be sought for the change of use of the south block of County Hall

00:33into a hotel and associated uses.

00:36The council has also applied for planning permission and listed buildings consent

00:40to turn the north block into flats with commercial space on the ground floor.

00:47TV Gladiator star Giant will live up to his name

00:50when he plays a larger-than-life character in Chesterfield's pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk.

00:55Jamie Christian Gihal will bring his towering presence to the Winding Wheel Theatre

00:59where he will take on the character of the Giant.
