JP and the aquarium debate whether the NFL should implement some rule changes, including the banning the tush push, this offseason.

00:00So, the league has to get all these official proposed rule changes on the books.

00:07Green Bay says, I don't care if you give me grief, we're pushing forward.

00:13Green Bay has proposed a rule change, rule 12, section one, to prohibit an offensive

00:20player from pushing a teammate who is lined up directly behind the snapper and receives

00:25the snap immediately at the snap.

00:30That is clearly very much targeted at eliminating the tush bush that the Eagles run so well.

00:37I mean, there's four of us here that watch a ton of football.

00:40I can't even think of another team that tries it with the, remember when Washington tried

00:46that one, Mariota came in and it looked like he was supposed to pitch it to Robinson.

00:51I don't know what that was.

00:54I think that is overkill and I think that is way too targeted specifically at what Philly

00:59does really well.

01:00I don't think there should be a rule change for what one team does really well.

01:04Cause if there was, could you, could you institute a rule change that quarterbacks that where

01:09the number 15 on third down aren't allowed to run around behind the line of scrimmage

01:16for more than nine seconds before they complete a backbreaking third down conversion to a

01:20tight end.

01:21Cause like that'd be pretty targeted at the chiefs, right?

01:24I don't think you can specifically try to eliminate something just because one team

01:27does it really well.

01:29However, I do think they should reinstate.

01:33This is not a new rule.

01:34It'd be reinstating the old rule that you cannot push a ball carrier from behind.

01:38I think it's dangerous.

01:40And I do think that would have some impact on the tush bush.

01:43I think it would have more impact though on generally when you see a skill position guy,

01:48a receiver or running back a tight end, and they're starting to get tackled around the

01:5110 or the five, and then you see like a tackle running from 10 yards past and just blowing

01:57up the whole pile.

01:58I think that's legitimately dangerous.

01:59And I think we should get rid of that.

02:03I don't get the vote.

02:05There are two other rule proposals.

02:06Everybody's going to talk about green Bay trying to ban the tush bush and rightfully

02:10so.

02:11But I think these other two are just as interesting, dude.

02:14The lions have proposed to eliminate automatic first downs for defensive holding.

02:22Think about how many times it's third and 17 and there's a defensive hold six yards

02:27down the field and it's an automatic first down.

02:30I don't hate that at all.

02:33Now I do wonder if it doesn't incentivize holding a little bit like, ah man, it's not

02:39a first down.

02:40Let's just grab a little bit, see if they call it.

02:42But I think the rules are too skewed to help the offense anyway.

02:46I like that one.

02:48And the Eagles not to be, you know, clearly green Bay's coming at the Eagles, but Philly's

02:54got their own rule proposal.

02:56The Eagles proposed to align the regular season overtime rules with the post season rules,

03:02giving each team a chance to possess the ball in a 15 minute period.

03:07So we're clear in regular season.

03:10If you, if you get the ball first and you score a touchdown, it's game over.

03:12If you get a field goal, the other team gets the ball in overtime.

03:17Both teams get the ball.

03:19I would vote no on the tush push ban.

03:23Yes.

03:24On the lion's proposal to eliminate automatic first downs for defensive holding.

03:28And I think no on the Eagles proposal to change overtime.

03:34They've messed with overtime so much over the last handful of years and dude, regular

03:38season games.

03:39If you're playing 17 of them, they're going to go to 18 in a year.

03:43I don't think you need to extend overtime that much more.
