D.L. Hughley Backs Don Lemon, Says You Can't Be Black and Support MAGA

D.L. Hughley is all in on Don Lemon's take, saying he agrees -- you can be Black and Republican, but supporting MAGA? That's a no-go.

00:05I think that, obviously, we're not a monolith, but I will say this.

00:08I remember when Donald Trump was on stage in Detroit, I believe it was, and he said,

00:14any black person that doesn't support me needs a head examiner, but he was on stage with

00:18Tommy Hearns and Antonio Brown, two black people that definitely need a head examiner.

00:22So I think that there is something to the fact that almost, I think that black people

00:30in the MAGA movement are like, what Donald Trump rules them out, like if he's going to,

00:36like if he 40, he got convicted of 34 felonies, Stephen A. Smith will say, well, that's why

00:41black people can relate to him, or when he's getting ready to dismantle black history,

00:46he'll call Marcellus Wiley out to come to a black history celebration, or when he's

00:50defunding cancer research for kids, he'll call a black kid out who has cancer.

00:56So he uses, Donald Trump uses black people like most people use fabuloso to clean the

01:02smell up.

01:03Well, look, and, but believe me, this is not my defense of Donald Trump.

01:09I have lots of issues, but it's not exclusive to black people.

01:15I mean, gay people, there are gay, there are gay people, a lot of them who support Donald

01:20Trump and the, and gay marriages on the chopping block.

01:23But look at it, but look at what they all have in common.

01:25They all have this in common.

01:26They are willing to do the most onerous things to the people who are like them.

01:31They're all willing to do all those things.

01:33And, and they're, they're, they're, they're, uh, they know that they're going to be tokenized.

01:38They know that they're going to be, a lot of times you can tell what they feel by what

01:42they can't say.

01:43Then they never speak out an objection to anything.

01:46And they oftentimes go against their own interests.

01:48And I will say the thing that I've noticed that consistently about those people, like

01:52you can't just be silent.

01:54You have to be, you have to participate.

01:56Like Kanye West is a MAGA supporter, but he's a not, he supports Hitler, Candace Owens is

02:03a MAGA supporter.

02:04And she said deferential things to Hitler.

02:06So you can't just be, you have to not only do you have to be his supporter, but you have

02:10to detract and demean the people who you come from.
