00:00Now, Aaron Ramsey's partnership with Reuben Colwell at Cardiff City is shaping up to be
00:07an exciting one, with the experienced midfielder proving a valuable mentor for the young Welsh
00:13talent. Ramsey's leadership, vision and top-level experience are already having a clear influence
00:18on Colwell's development, helping him grow into a more complete and confident player.
00:24We're taking a closer look at how this midfield duo is evolving, the impact of Ramsey's guidance
00:29is having and what it could mean for Cardiff's ambitions. If Colwell continues to learn from
00:35one of Wales' finest, their partnership could become a key asset for the Bluebirds as the
00:41season progresses.
00:44Looking at Cardiff City, of course, the tension for them turns back to the Championship now
00:49out of the FA Cup at the hands of Aston Villa at Villa Park. But the Championship, it's
00:56going to be tight, let's be honest, come the end of the season. There's only a few points
00:59in it between Cardiff, just outside the relegation zone, and those below them who are in it.
01:04So firstly, Charles, I'll ask you this, are you confident that they will have enough to
01:10stay up?
01:11I think the short answer is yes, I think their transfer strategy has been good enough. It's
01:20come off very well, their three signings from the winter window have all had a fantastic
01:25impact on Omariza's side, that's a fact. Obviously, a five-point buffer after 35 games,
01:35they're going to want to keep that up and ensure that they're there or thereabouts.
01:39And then it's also very tight when you look above them, I mean, a couple of wins and suddenly
01:43they're 16th, 17th with their South Wales derby partners Swansea City. So yes, I do
01:52think that they will have enough eventually, they still have a few huge games to play and
01:58I think they will just avoid it.
02:02That's interesting that, because of course, let's be honest, Cardiff are a team who probably
02:05just on club size could be high up the table, they could even be in the Premier League,
02:09of course they have been in some recent seasons. But to be fair, I think of late they have
02:15shown some signs of improvement certainly. In that team of course was Aaron Ramsey, veteran
02:20Welsh midfielder alongside Reuben Corwell. Now their partnership is starting to blossom
02:24a little bit. Yes, Ramsey's fitness is sometimes a bit of an issue because of how old he's
02:28getting on in terms of his professional career, but their relationship in the middle of the
02:33park, could that be the key to helping them stay up this season?
02:38Well I think it's certainly a positive, as you say. They did go out against Aston Villa
02:44in the FA Cup, but there were a few real positives to take from that night. We've
02:50got obviously Corwell and Ramsey working together and I think that's just perfect for both Wales
02:57and Cardiff. You've got to look at the bigger picture. This is a relegation fight, yes,
03:01but in terms of years to come, in terms of Craig Bellamy watching on and he's looking
03:05at Aaron Ramsey as the Wales captain as well, coming into that, Cardiff captain as well.
03:11You have Reuben Corwell who's been a magnificent bit of talent for Cardiff City, so he's going
03:17to be looking at Wales in the future and performing for them. So yes, it's real positive if you
03:23look at the bigger picture. Obviously now it's a partnership that looks like it's going
03:27to be blossoming, but in terms of Wales and Cardiff, there's no better mentor than Aaron
03:32Ramsey, maybe Gareth Bale, but other than that, Aaron Ramsey is probably the go-to guy
03:38in Welsh football, other than Bale, if you look over the last 10 years or so. Then maybe
03:44on top of that, Craig Bellamy and he's now obviously the Welsh team manager. So that's
03:49really interesting. I think it was Kevin Ratcliffe, the former Cardiff and Wales player, who came
03:54out and pointed out the partnership in the FA Cup between these two, saying he was really
04:00surprised of the pairing and it worked brilliantly and surprised how it worked. With Corwell
04:07having a bit more space to roam, I think he compared it to the job Joe Allen used to
04:12do for Aaron Ramsey. So it's a bit of a full-circle moment in terms of Wales and Cardiff City
04:18and I think this is a partnership that can really blossom. Obviously, Omar Rees has made
04:22some big statements with the young players this season. He's really enjoyed being involved
04:28with the young players and giving them an opportunity to shine. I think Reuben Colwood
04:33is a gem for Wales, a gem for Cardiff and they need to look after him. I think under
04:38the wing of Aaron Ramsey, there's no better player to look after him.
