Former Trump adviser says a ceasefire would be bad for Urkaine

President Trump's former National Security Adviser, John Bolton, says a ceasefire would be bad for Ukraine. Ambassador Bolton was speaking to ABC’s Planet America program earlier today.

00:00Well, I think it was a big mistake.

00:03I think the policy that Trump has been pursuing has effectively almost changed from 180 degrees

00:12from supporting Ukraine to supporting Russia.

00:15And the cutting off of that valuable assistance was a real plus for Russia.

00:22Now, having put it back on really is just an indication that it's like a light switch.

00:30You can turn it off or on as Trump wants.

00:32I think the 30-day ceasefire, we'll see if the Russians accept it.

00:37I think it's a mistake for Ukraine.

00:40What Trump wants is a quick end to this conflict.

00:43He wants to put it behind him.

00:45Maybe he wants the Nobel Peace Prize.

00:48But once you get into a ceasefire that then depends on continued negotiations, it's very

00:54dangerous that that could become a partition line and, in effect, the new boundary between

00:59Ukraine and Russia.
