Pope Francis’ doctors have announced he is no longer in imminent danger from double pneumonia. The 88-year-old's prognosis has been lifted for the first time as he marks his 25th day in hospital.

00:08and they have lifted his prognosis for the first time.

00:13Doctors had been reserving the prognosis of the 88-year-old pontiff after he entered hospital

00:19nearly a month ago with breathing difficulties, which then developed into pneumonia in both

00:24lungs.

00:25But today the Vatican says that after days of being stable, the Pope is out of imminent

00:30danger from his initial infections from bronchitis and pneumonia.

00:35But doctors say that they are still very cautious because of the Pope's age, because of his

00:4088-year-old.

00:42And the Vatican says it will be necessary for him to remain in hospital for treatment

00:47because he is still receiving oxygen therapy.

00:50It's been a rollercoaster of ups and downs for 88-year-old Pope Francis as he spent the

00:56past month in Rome's Gemelli Hospital.

00:59He's suffered several respiratory crises and the Pope hasn't been seen by the public since

01:05he entered hospital on the 14th of February.

01:08It's the longest stretch he's been out of the public eye since his papacy began 12 years

01:15And this is the most positive update we've received from the Vatican since the Pope entered

01:20But doctors say that they remain very cautious about his condition and he faces a long road
