(Adnkronos) - “L'innovazione nelle scienze e in medicina, soprattutto, è fondamentale.

00:00What is the role of innovation in science and medicine?
00:04Innovation in science and medicine, above all, is fundamental.
00:10However, there are two elements that we must bring together with innovation.
00:16The first element is a collaboration that must always be structured and integrated
00:24between institutions of various types, companies, public institutions, research institutions, private institutions, universities.
00:34This collaboration is essential to really try to identify what are the elements of innovation
00:42that can make a difference to people's health.
00:47The second element is that innovation must be at everyone's disposal.
00:54In this case, political decision-makers come into play.
01:00The endorsement of political decision-makers, especially on public health policies,
01:06in particular on preventive policies.
01:10Prevention, as we know, is the pillar of health,
01:16but above all, it becomes the economic pillar of the country's system.
01:21We are approaching a historical moment in which our country will have an extremely high percentage of elderly people
01:30that we know how to care for very well, but at great costs, both for society and economic costs.
01:37It is important that these people recover as late as possible,
01:42and this is only possible with preventive activities at 360 degrees,
01:49which take into account elements of primary prevention such as vaccinations,
01:55but also commitment to lifestyles, which are certainly a personal responsibility,
02:01but which must be supported by effective public health policies.
