00:00There are hundreds of senior citizens in Cebu who have already received cash gifts from the government.

00:06The National Commission of Senior Citizens has confirmed that they will be able to give their cash gifts to the beneficiaries even in remote areas.

00:14This is Jesse Atienza of PTV Cebu in Detalia.

00:18The centenarian, Epifania, who entered the gymnasium of Tuburan in the province of Cebu, was greeted with a smile.

00:29She was wearing a beautiful dress.

00:31It was obvious that she was preparing for this special day.

00:35And even though she has reached the age of 100, she is happy to answer the questions.

00:41Her secret in her long life, walking is life.

00:46I want to be a priest. I want to be a priest. I want to be a priest.

00:58Epifania also has an advice for the youth.

01:02Don't drink alcohol, don't smoke, don't eat natural foods, and don't eat meat.

01:09She was one of the hundreds of senior citizens who received a cash gift from the R.A. 11982 Expanded Centenarian Act.

01:19It is a way to help the senior citizens and help them in their livelihood.

01:25The mayor of Tuburan was also happy because more than 30 senior citizens received a cash gift.

01:33We are active as senior citizens in Tuburan.

01:35We are happy because we are able to focus on agriculture.

01:41In the next 5-8 years, our plan is for Tuburan to be an organic town.

01:45So it will be better because there will be no more toxic food.

01:50In the past, there were many people who ate chemical fertilizers.

01:59According to the National Commission of Senior Citizens, Region 7,

02:02they are already chasing other beneficiaries who are still lacking in requirements.

02:07Why is there no cash gift? Because we have a deadline, sir, last February 1.

02:12So until February 1, there was no document that submitted the cash gift.

02:17So if you go to the commission, you will see what happened to the cash gift.

02:22So there is not enough information to reach the barangay level.

02:25So it was sent to OSCA.

02:27However, as of the moment, there are 500 cash gifts being processed in the province of Tuburan.

02:32Meanwhile, senior citizens in Congress are laughing at the ongoing establishments that are not giving discounts.

02:41If they are not going to fulfill their requirements, because this is a law,

02:44this 12% VAT exemption and 20% senior citizens discount is a law.

02:52So they cannot not follow it.

02:56So we are calling on everyone and we are saying that if you do not fulfill your requirements here, you will be closed.
