00:00President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. led the distribution of cash gifts to senior citizens today.

00:06The President confirmed the importance of their needs.

00:11Here are the details of the news from PTV's Kenneth Paciente.

00:17No senior citizen will be left behind.

00:19That's what President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. gave.

00:23Along with the distribution of cash gifts for the elderly.

00:26The President himself awarded cash grants to the beneficiaries of Republic Act No. 11982 or the Expanded Centenarians Act of 2024.

00:36Of the 14 beneficiaries who were given cash gifts, 380 and 385-year-olds, 590-year-olds received P10,000.

00:47While the 3,100-year-olds received P100,000.

00:53According to the President, this is just a way for the government to recognize the contribution of the elderly.

00:58That he became a guide and mentor for many on how to live.

01:02They are our supporters.

01:05They are the ones who brought us into and to understand how to deal with the world and how to deal with life.

01:15And for that, we will all be eternally grateful.

01:19That's why every line on your skin and every strand of white hair is a part of our history.

01:30Fellow countrymen, we are here today to give glory to our elders.

01:36The President also awarded the privileges that senior citizens can receive.

01:41Including discounts on water and electricity.

01:45As well as medicines and other necessities.

01:48He also said that there are many more things that need to be done for senior citizens.

01:53Things that the government is already doing.

01:55Including social pension, residential care facilities of the DSWD, and other programs and projects of the National Commission of Senior Citizens.

02:04In the new Philippines, we want our elders to live with dignity and dignity.

02:12They deserve nothing less than our love, our care, our protection, our respect, and our honor.

02:21That's why we are doing our best to make the situation of our senior citizens better.

02:28The Chief Executive also asked the families of senior citizens to be kind.

02:34To the families of our elders,

02:37to be kind to each and every one of them.

02:42To show compassion because the time will come when you will also seek respect and kindness from your children.

02:52To our youth,

02:55you will be the ones to continue the knowledge that our elders taught us.

03:03Use it so you can build a brighter future.

03:12Some senior citizens were pleased to learn about this from the government.

03:16I can buy my medicines and food.

03:22I will just share it with me and my grandchildren who are still young.

03:29It's most welcome because it's the first time I've experienced this.

03:33And for my age, it's a great help.

03:37Do you have any plans where you will use it?

03:40Well, so many things to spend for.

03:44You know now, everything is going up.

03:47In the end, the President urged the senior citizens not to think that they are no longer important to society.

03:521079 beneficiaries were given the so-called cash gift throughout the country.

03:58It's worth 12,050,000 pesos.

04:01But the target of this year's program is to reach more than 275,000 beneficiaries

04:07where 2.9 billion pesos will be distributed.
