Northampton loss “difficult to take” for Bristol Rovers

Bristol Rovers lost away at Northampton Town on Saturday with Head Coach Iñigo Calderón struggling to hide his disappointment at the loss. Daniel Wales reports.

00:00Anigo Calderon had been left incredibly frustrated after his side's loss away at Wiccamondras in League One,

00:07given that it was two quick-fire goals that won the tie for the hosts.

00:10Away form has let the gas down for too much of this season,

00:13but they had a chance at redemption against Northampton Town on Saturday.

00:18However, Bristol Rovers' away form did not improve and instead continued to plague them,

00:24despite taking the lead early on in the second half against Northampton thanks to Scott Sinclair.

00:29Things were looking positive until Dara Costello and then Nesta Guinness-Walker

00:33turned the game on its head to leave the gas empty-handed.

00:38Reflecting on the game, head coach Anigo Calderon struggled to hide his disappointment

00:44after an encounter that was there for the taking from a Bristol Rovers' perspective,

00:49but that ultimately ended up in a disappointing loss.

00:54Obviously, winning away is a difficult one to explain.

01:02I think the game was nothing in the game. It was a bit dead.

01:06Sometimes that's risky as well because you can switch off.

01:10It was just a split of a second that we switched off and it cost us too much.

01:18It was a free-kick just across. I don't think we were struggling at that time.

01:24Even if I don't remember badly, I think we had a chance before the free-kick that we scored the first one.

01:30I would say it was more the second one for us than the equaliser for them.

01:36It's a difficult one to explain if we want to take, but we had to take on the chest and we had to move forward.

01:43I spoke with the boys in the half-time. I think the game was more or less there.

01:49Obviously, nothing spectacular. You can't expect anything spectacular today coming here,

01:53but I think the game was more or less what we wanted.

01:56Obviously, scoring just coming off the reserve room, that's everything you want.

02:28Calderon knew only too well that improving the club's away form was going to be the top priority for the rest of the season

02:39Well, I just keep saying to the boys that try to work harder.

02:46Obviously, we have to improve because otherwise it's going to be a single game at home
