00:00All right, so what I find fascinating is some of the new responsible gaming ads, Pat, are

00:06really focused more around accepting the fact that people and younger people are going to

00:14bet on sports, which I don't know that we would have guessed these kind of ads would

00:18have been around five years ago.

00:19But I think we've come to the foregone conclusion that it's going to happen.

00:23And so over at this website, knowyourplay.org, that's the new responsible gambling website

00:29that they have up.

00:30It seems to just simply focus on younger people who are betting and making sure they just

00:35understand what their limits should be.

00:38And that's a pivot from where we were several years ago, where people just said, don't bet

00:42if you can.

00:43Now it's like, all right, if you are, just be careful, right?

00:46Yeah.

00:47I mean, when this started in 2018, the big wave of legalization, it was important to

00:52note the importance of regulation.

00:54We talk about that all the time, about bringing it into the light, making sure consumer protections

00:57are there.

00:58I think this is the next step.

01:00And it is because we are seeing lots of headwinds.

01:03We've talked about the U.S. congressional hearings, the U.S. bills that are being considered

01:07to put nationwide frameworks in this.

01:11We've seen a lot of action at the state level talking about responsible gambling being more

01:15important, more advertising restrictions and the like.

01:19Well, the Responsible Online Gaming Association, which is made up of nine of the operators

01:24in the sports betting industry, including FanDuel, DraftKings, BetMGM, they've put out

01:31this Know Your Play campaign.

01:35It's, to your point, focused at college age demographics, not necessarily college students,

01:40it's just that age of demographics, which people often say is the riskiest demographic

01:45when you're getting into sports betting and gambling.

01:49And it is all about kind of teaching them just the things you laid out.

01:53Know your limits, know the mental health aspects of this and how it can become a problem, things

01:59like that.

02:00And it is a lot of online resources, but they are going to do in-person seminars and workshops

02:06on college campuses.

02:07They said they're also going to have pilot programs at a few special, you know, certain

02:12colleges to do this.

02:14And I think this is just another step from all these operators who, you know, at times

02:19it might have felt sometimes, you know, I'm not saying it is.

02:22I know a lot of the people at these organizations and they do care about responsible gambling

02:26and worrying about addiction and the like.

02:29But a lot of times it could have felt, and for people who are against the industry might

02:33feel it's a lot of lip service about responsible gambling.

02:36But I think this is another big step in the right direction of saying, hey, no, we really

02:39want to take proactive steps in helping make sure this doesn't become a big societal problem

02:45because we know the importance of having a regulated industry and we don't want it to

02:49become a bad problem in the country.
