00:00I'm the leader of the 40 Days for Life Prayer Vigil outside of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital

00:14in Glasgow. It's a peaceful prayer vigil which prays at sites around the world where

00:23abortions are taking place. The purpose of these vigils is to offer help and support

00:29to anyone going into a place where abortions are being offered. Even at that last minute,

00:36to still offer help and support to say that there is an alternative to abortion and that

00:42no one should ever feel pressured or coerced into having an abortion or feel that there

00:48is no help for them and that abortion is the last solution. We also offer help and support

00:54to people who have been through the abortion experience who may be needing directed to

00:59places where they can find post-abortion syndrome support. This is a very real thing that affects

01:06very many people after they've had abortions. We pray publicly because we need to be where

01:12people can see us to know that there is help available even at the last minute. In Scotland

01:18there have been prayer vigils outside of hospitals for 30 years. 40 Days for Life,

01:24this one that we are doing, this is our seventh year and next year we will come out again

01:30during Lent for 40 days from 8 o'clock in the morning until 8 o'clock in the evening

01:37and we will stand peacefully, quietly, just offering prayer and being here as a witness

01:43to say help is available, can you help here. There are people who don't want to be here

01:48because they support abortion so they are opposed to what we stand for but we have to

01:54offer help and support to people who are in need and these critics are effectively trying

01:59to censor the offer of help. I would call the government out on this because these are the

02:06very same people who constantly say they are promoting diversity but we are part of a diverse

02:14community. Equality, well what about the equal rights of people to stand and say they want to

02:21offer help and all of these messages. So I would call them out because effectively by their proposed

02:28legislation they are shutting down diversity, they are shutting down equality. They are accused of

02:34intimidation and harassment but we have laws in this country against intimidation and harassment

02:39and there are no cases of intimidation and harassment. The police have never been called

02:43to deal with 40 days for life. There are existing laws on this and therefore why is the police

02:49talking about introducing more laws. There are laws already in existence and there has never

02:55been a need for these laws to be implemented.
