IAEA's Grossi, scientists collect seawater samples near Fukushima power station  The Director General of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi on Wednesday, February 19, collected seawater samples near Japan’s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power station, which was struck by an earthquake and tsunami in 2011.  The collection is as part of efforts established by China and Japan "to extend the sampling and testing of ALPS treated water,” amid an ongoing process of releasing treated water from storage tanks into the Pacific Ocean.  The ‘Advanced Liquid Processing System’ known as ALPS is a filtration system that removes any radioactive material from water.
