00:00A party insider said a concerted push is taking place to oust Lim Guan Eng from his leadership
00:07position in DAP, but this is not the work of a deep state.
00:12On Monday, party veteran Esni Lamatin claimed outside forces were looking to dislodge Lim
00:17from his position, while another source claimed a more moderate leader was being sought to
00:22attract Malay voters.
00:24However, the party insider claims the sentiment against Lim has been building for years, with
00:29members particularly frustrated by his open rebuke of incumbent Chao Kuan Yew.
00:34The insider from Penang said while there is no deep state or an attempt to overthrow Lim,
00:39there is a genuine movement within the party to remove him.
00:43The source also said party members have expressed concern over the Lim family's continued
00:47grip on the party, with Sister Hui Ying currently Penang DAP's secretary.
00:52The insider said Lim is viewed as a growing liability, with party veterans concerned that
00:57the two ongoing corruption cases he is facing may hurt DAP's public image.
01:03The source said while veteran members recognize the hard work and sacrifice Lim and his father,
01:08Kit Siang, have made for the party's cause, it did not mean that they could overstay their
01:12welcome.
