00:00MIC will remain in Barisan Nacional for now, the party's deputy president M. Saravanan said,
00:06although he remained coy about whether the party would join the opposition coalition in the future.
00:11When asked if this meant ruling out joining Perikatan Nacional, Saravanan said,
00:16no, I'm not saying that.
00:18He said recent developments within PN require the party to reassess its stance,
00:23particularly following a shift in leadership.
00:25He noted that PN is now led by PAS instead of Prasadu, which changes the considerations involved.
00:33He added that MIC would need to consult its grassroots members
00:36and gauge the sentiments of the Indian community before making any decision.
00:41He also stressed that the party has not rejected PN outright,
00:45as early discussions took place under different leadership.
00:49His remarks came amid ongoing speculation about MIC leaving BN,
00:53especially after party delegates in November gave leaders the mandate to consider such a move
00:58due to dissatisfaction over the party's role and relevance.
