Nepal student suicide row: 5 Odisha university staffers arrested

Following massive protests by students, five staffers, including three directors and two security guards, were arrested in connection with the suicide of a Nepali student at Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT) in Bhubaneswar.

00:24All of this viewers, after the suicide of this young girl, the entire campus went into

00:32disarray where strangely the KIIT management decided to crack down on protesting students

00:38who hail from Nepal and at the back of it, now you have action that has been taken by

00:45the Odisha government, stepping in, cracking the whip but all of that also, after the Nepal

00:50government had to step in and give out and send out a missive saying that they are strongly

00:56standing beside the students from their country and will do what it takes to help them.

01:01Now 5 have been arrested including the person, the ex-boyfriend of this young girl who was

01:08held for abetment to suicide, 2 security guards and 3 KIIT directors have also been arrested.

01:16Odisha government has put KIIT on notice and there is now a panel that has been constituted

01:21to report of misconduct and use of force.
