Nurse-to-patient ratios changes arrive after long delay

00:00So today I'll be very proud to be introducing into the Parliament amendments to our Safe Patient Care Act

00:07to further enshrine in law nurse-to-patient and midwife-to-patient ratios

00:14that build on the existing ratios that we have in place.

00:18What we were able to do is that funding that was not taken up for the timeline that you talked about

00:27was put towards the Enterprise Agreement outcome.

00:31We didn't meet our timeline with our work of 2023.

00:35We did get the money and it did go into the pool to help pay for the 24-28 Enterprise Agreement

00:42including that 28-24% increase over the four years.
