00:00There was a lot of excitement when Meta launched Threads and many of us who've spent years
00:08on Twitter and not really liked it very much, well, we were quite thrilled that we could
00:13perhaps see a new social media platform that would be more engaging and less toxic and
00:17have more respect for a diversity of views. However, after several weeks of using Threads
00:23or at least trying to use it, I can say that for myself and for many of my friends, Threads
00:28has been a crashing bore. When you go there, the algorithm doesn't really throw up very
00:33interesting posts for you to go through. There's very little actual engagement with other users
00:39and so it's turned out to be a pretty bland alternative to Twitter. And that's not to
00:44say that Twitter is thriving as a result of that because Twitter itself is running itself
00:50into the ground. Elon Musk himself has admitted that revenues are down by some 50% since he
00:55took over the platform in October last year. Now he's rebranded Twitter as X. So it's actually
01:00not called Twitter anymore. It's called X. And many experts believe that that's simply
01:05not going to be enough to change what people associate the social media platform with.
01:11And where does that leave people like you and me as far as using social media is concerned?
01:15I would at the moment suggest that watching Golden Retriever videos and reels on Instagram
01:20is probably the most therapeutic and nicest thing that you can do in the world as it exists today.
