00:00We may not be medical workers, but we also work on the frontlines in the fight against
00:09COVID-19, as we provide reliable stories about the vaccination campaign.
00:14On Wednesday, at least 195 Gulf News employees, from editors to reporters, photographers and
00:20even newsboys, rolled up their sleeves and took their first jab of the COVID-19 vaccine.
00:26The Gulf News has taken the initiative to, you know, support all the employees by giving
00:34these vaccines, and we have arranged to do it in our premises, and we have got a lot
00:42of response from the employees concerned.
00:45Medical staff from MediQ Healthcare went to the Gulf News headquarters to administer the
00:50vaccine.
00:51The vaccination was free and voluntary.
00:53Four stations, manned by skilled nurses, were set up for the inoculation, while two
00:57other staff took employees' information.
01:00A couple more nurses were assigned to take vital signs, while other staff carefully and
01:04thoroughly explained the type of vaccine that was given, and its possible side effects.
01:10I just had my jab done here in the building, very efficient, we just got our details done,
01:16went over, given our own personal vaccine, and they took it over here to the doctors
01:21and they took the jab, hardly a mark, and completely, completely painless.
01:27So it was a very stress-free occasion altogether.
01:32I give my details, everything, and then I take the vaccine, now I feel it's good.
01:37It's a very good initiative by the Gulf News and the government of the UAE to give us this
01:43opportunity to get free vaccine.
01:44I think everybody should take this opportunity and get themselves vaccinated.
01:48The whole process took me around only five minutes, most of the time recording the information
01:56and the data on the computer, on the system, and the injection itself was like just 30
02:04seconds, and it's done.
02:05The government is providing us a very good service by giving these vaccines free to everybody
02:12and making them accessible.
02:13I think people should make use of this opportunity and take it as soon as they can.
02:19That's how we beat the virus.
02:20I encourage all the UAE residents to do the vaccine as it is safety for us and safety for others.
02:27The entire process took five minutes for each individual, and the medical staff will return
02:32in 21 days to administer their second dose.
