EU leaders reply to Trump: You need us at the table to make any peace deal work

The phone call between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin has stoked fears that Europe will be completely removed from the peace process.

00:06Zelensky have called for European involvement in any potential peace negotiations between

00:12Russia and Ukraine.

00:14Any agreement without us will fail because you need Europe and Ukraine to also implement

00:20the agreement. So without us at the table, you know, you can agree on whatever, but it

00:28will just simply fail because of the implementation is not there.

00:33President Zelensky echoed Kalas' words, calling for a meeting with the US and saying Ukraine

00:39would not accept any peace talks with Russia that didn't include his country.

00:43But the meeting is a priority for us, Ukraine and America, and only after such meetings,

00:50after the implementation of the plan on how to stop Putin, I believe it is fair to speak

00:57with the Russians. I believe that the Europeans should be at the table, because we are a part

01:06of Europe and we will be members of the European Union. It is important for us. They helped

01:12us a lot.

01:13It comes after the US-Trump administration indicated it's planning in-person talks with

01:18Russia on ending the Ukraine war without involving them, after having insisted that

01:23Kiev should not join NATO and stating that it's up to Europe to protect itself and Ukraine.
