The social media platform X has agreed to pay Donald Trump $10 million to settle a lawsuit over his nearly two-year suspension following the January 6th Capitol riot. Trump sued Twitter in January 2021, two days after the riots, claiming the ban violated his First Amendment rights. A judge dismissed the case in 2022. His legal team had appealed the ruling, which remained pending until the settlement. Elon Musk, who reinstated Trump’s account after acquiring Twitter in 2022, now serves in the Trump administration. Last month, Meta paid Trump $25 million to settle a similar lawsuit over his Facebook and Instagram bans.
