00:00Hi, I'm Laura Reid, the Deputy Features Editor at the Yorkshire Post and here's a look at

00:05what's coming up in the week ahead. Parliament's in recess this week and it's half term for

00:11many of the country's schools but there's plenty going on in the region for families

00:15so let's have a look at some of the events. The City of York's going to be taken over

00:20by Viking Warriors for the annual festival celebrating its heritage. The York Vic Viking

00:25Festival is taking place from February the 17th to the 23rd. Visitors can expect living

00:31history encampments, workshops, tours, traditional crafts and combat performances. One of the

00:36large scale events is a March to Coppergate which will be a parade of over 200 Vikings

00:43through the city streets. In Wakefield there's the annual celebration of Rhubarb taking place

00:49at the weekend. The festival this year coincides with the opening weekend of a new venue in

00:55the city, Wakefield Exchange, which is going to be a space for hosting events, street food

01:00and studios. The festival's running from the 21st to the 23rd. There's going to be more

01:05than 60 market chalets of food and drink as well as family activities, cooking demonstrations

01:11and live music and heritage trails. Former motorcycle racer Guy Martin is set to appear

01:18at the Speed Show at Elbington Airfield this weekend. The event is celebrating everything

01:24that goes fast in a straight line, including drag races, motorbikes and supercars. Thrill

01:29seekers can experience the rush first hand by riding shotgun in the likes of a monster

01:34truck or motorbike sidecar. And in North Yorkshire, the North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales National

01:41Park authorities are continuing their celebrations of the dark skies this week. This year's event

01:49is the 10th Dark Skies Festival and includes night runs, canoeing and night navigations,

01:55as well as workshops, sagas and safaris and mindful experiences. Both areas are among

02:03few in the world to be recognised for their dark skies.
