Hi, I'm Laura Reid, the Deputy Features Editor at the Yorkshire Post and here's a look at

what's coming up in the week ahead. Parliament's in recess this week and it's half term for

many of the country's schools but there's plenty going on in the region for families

so let's have a look at some of the events. The City of York's going to be taken over

by Viking Warriors for the annual festival celebrating its heritage. The York Vic Viking

Festival is taking place from February the 17th to the 23rd. Visitors can expect living

history encampments, workshops, tours, traditional crafts and combat performances. One of the

large scale events is a March to Coppergate which will be a parade of over 200 Vikings

through the city streets. In Wakefield there's the annual celebration of Rhubarb taking place

at the weekend. The festival this year coincides with the opening weekend of a new venue in

the city, Wakefield Exchange, which is going to be a space for hosting events, street food

and studios. The festival's running from the 21st to the 23rd. There's going to be more

than 60 market chalets of food and drink as well as family activities, cooking demonstrations

and live music and heritage trails. Former motorcycle racer Guy Martin is set to appear

at the Speed Show at Elbington Airfield this weekend. The event is celebrating everything

that goes fast in a straight line, including drag races, motorbikes and supercars. Thrill

seekers can experience the rush first hand by riding shotgun in the likes of a monster

truck or motorbike sidecar. And in North Yorkshire, the North York Moors and Yorkshire Dales National

Park authorities are continuing their celebrations of the dark skies this week. This year's event

is the 10th Dark Skies Festival and includes night runs, canoeing and night navigations,

as well as workshops, sagas and safaris and mindful experiences. Both areas are among

few in the world to be recognised for their dark skies.
