00:00Agriculture Secretary Francisco Chu Laurel Jr. did not plan to raise more than 4,000 tons of onions this February.

00:09According to Secretary Laurel, this is part of their tactical importation planning.

00:15It balances the shortcomings while not affecting the local harvest in the country.

00:23According to the Bureau of Plant Industry, the monthly deficit is 7,000 tons of onions.

00:30This is lower than the D.A.'s estimate of 3,000 red onions and 1,000 white onions.

00:37As of now, the price of onions in the market ranges from Php 130 to Php 200 per kilo,

00:44while the price of white onions ranges from Php 120 to Php 140.
